Thomas Schütte’s 1986 Installation in the MoMA
A few friends and I visited the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan this week. The installation “Melonely” had us double-checking which year it was produced…
Sunday 12.22
Prime Minister Netanyahu explained the war's course in an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal. Throughout the conversation, he dropped two interesting tidbits.
In the wake of the pager story, a detail was overlooked. Hezbollah stored secret weapons in private residences to retaliate. To avert this response, Israel kindly hacked the Lebanese television networks warning civilians to evacuate their homes, and then Israel struck the munitions beneath them.
He also mentioned that Iran invested $30 billion in Syria and $20 billion in Lebanon. Iran was 2024’s big loser. [1]

Weaponized Pager (Left) Regular Pager (Right)
This week, we continue to learn more about the pager story. Two recently retired Mossad agents closely involved with the operation were interviewed for 60 minutes.
The operation progressed for ten years. Mossad created the mirage of a real pager company to sell to Hezbollah. They acquired the license of Hezbollah’s previous supplier to use its branding. The explosive material inside lent to a chubbier device, which they explained as “Robust[,] Dustproof[,] Waterproof[, and with a] Long battery life.” The Israeli knack for marketing extends way past the shuk!
The blast was meant to injure the terrorists, as that would be more costly to deal with than their deaths. The agents ended the interview by saying “They'll have to keep on trying to guess what the next thing is.” [2]

Map of Where Al Jazeera is Banned
The Palestinian leadership in the West Bank came into agreement with the Israeli courts. Both banned the Qatari state-owned Al Jazeera news network. They are both part of a growing regional block restricting the network. [3][4]
Wednesday 12.25
The conflict made its way to the gamers. A Jewish Nintendo Super Smash Bros professional gamer has been banned from tournaments for professing zionist beliefs online. Another player, who remains in these tournaments, posted “God willing, Tel Aviv will be reduced to ash within our lifetime, the state of Palestine restored and the United States empire at the very least handicapped.” Yikes. IDF Targets in Yemen
After largely incapacitating and deterring Hamas and Hezbollah, Israel moved on to addressing Iran’s final active partner– the Houthis. The IDF struck their airport, power stations, and ports, which are crucial for their importing of Iranian arms. [6][7]
Friday 12.27
Governor of Damascus, Maher Marwan
In an interview with NPR, Damascus’s new governor, Maher Marwan, explained his peaceful vision for the future. He said Israel’s concerns are “natural” and that he understands why they "advanced a little [and] bombed a little." He hopes the U.S. can facilitate better ties with Israel and doesn’t want to be anyone’s enemy. And on top of all that, he looks like a funcle. [8]
Saturday 12.28
Prime Minister Netanyahu will not be appearing in court on Monday. He’s got a pretty strong doctor’s note for having his prostate removed on Sunday. [9]
