Week of March 9, 2025
Students Parading a Coffin Draped with a Palestinian Flag Through Campus
Happy St. Patrick’s Day. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the Boston parade. But thanks to our campus anti-Israel group, I didn’t go this year without a one!
Sunday 3.9
An Encampment Khalil Directed
Mahmoud Khalil, the leader of the anti-Israel movement at Columbia University, was arrested and had his green card revoked. If the courts ultimately defend the move, we can expect many more students to have the same fate.
Doubling down against campus antisemitism, the Trump Administration revoked $400 million in funding to the university. [1][2]
Monday 3.10
Columbia isn’t the administration’s only target. Any school that fails to police antisemitism on campus properly is between President Trump’s crosshairs.
The department of education announced an investigation into 60 such schools. Many enacted hiring freezes and rescinded PhD acceptances in anticipation of budget constraints. [3]
Tuesday 3.11
The Heritage Foundation published a report recommending a phased end of U.S. aid to Israel by 2047. It seeks to initially ramp up aid and then gradually pull back while maintaining strategic cooperation.
Such a document has been the writing on the wall for some time. A growing camp in the right advocates for a shift in U.S. priorities to Asia. Until now, the prospect of drawing back funds to the Middle East has been murky, this document spells it out with more detail. [4][5]
Wednesday 3.12
Adam Boehler and Daniel Davis
The Trump Administration withdrew an intelligence position from an anti-Israel commentator and reigned in U.S.-Hamas hostage negotiations following widespread public disapproval.
Adam Boehler, special presidential envoy for hostage negotiations, lost the hostage file and Daniel Davis is no longer in the running for deputy director of national intelligence for mission integration. [6][7]
Thursday 3.13
5-year-old Gazan Boy
It has become common knowledge that Hamas uses children as human shields. They have been expanding the sadistic practice by also using them as decoys. A Gazan child was sent alone out into an IDF buffer zone. Needless to say, the IDF returned him safely. [8]
Friday 3.14
The ceasefire deal on the table had Hamas releasing 10 living hostages. There were rumors that it would dwindle to five. Instead, Hamas offered a counterproposal for one living and 4 slain hostages, derailing the talks. [9]
Saturday 3.15
Trump ordered strikes against the Houthis because “no terrorist force will stop American commercial and naval vessels from freely sailing the Waterways of the World.” He also pledged to hold the group’s sponsor, Iran, “fully accountable.” The Houthis responded that they won’t stop striking merchant ships and will retaliate against the U.S. to serve as “Gaza’s shield.” [10]
You articles are great. Would you interested in me republishing a few in the future on my stack and crediting you? Ps: Barnard 2018 here!
