Tension with Tehran
Assassinations, Judokas, protests, and the Middle East at the Brink: The Weekly Conquest Week of 7.28.24 – 8.3.24

Week of July 28th, 2024
Israel’s three Olympic Medal winners so far this year
There’s no putting lightly that Israel and Iran are on the brink of an all out war. So, let's start this with something refreshing, The Olympics!
The word Judoka was all over Jewish and Israeli news the past few days. It isn’t a weird way to refer to a Jew, but rather one who plays Judo.
Israel minted three Olympic medal holding Judokas this week! Mazel Tov or Mabrook (depending on who’s reading this) to Inbar Lanir, Peter Paltchik, and Raz Hershko!
Congratulations for breaking the Judo-only streak to Tom Reuveny, Sharon Kantor, and Artem Dolgopyat for their victories in windsurfing, sailing, and gymnastics!
Sunday 7.28
The victims’ funeral
The Druze community in Madjal Shams was united in grief, following the horrific attack on their town, killing 12 youths and injuring over 40. However, they directed their suffering in different directions.
A radio journalist said that “Lebanon should burn for this.” Some vehemently protested Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit. Others called for unity, and some blamed Israel for the attack.
Netanyahu swore revenge against Iran and its proxies, and boy wasn’t he lying! [1][2][3]
Monday 7.29
Outside of the Sde Teiman base
Israeli military police raided the Sde Teiman prison to put ten IDF reservists in custody for alleged sexual abuse of a terrorist involved in the October Seventh attack.
Israeli civilians and members of Knesset protested the arrests. Some broke into the base in an act of defiance.
Others defended the arrest. Netanyahu said that "even in difficult times, the law applies to anyone — nobody may trespass into IDF bases or violate the laws of the state of Israel." [4][5]
Tuesday 7.30
Smoke following the blast that killed Fuad Shukr
Netanyahu wasn’t kidding when he promised retaliation following the Madjal Shams attack.
The IDF launched a rocket killing Fuad Shukr, the second most powerful leader in Hezbollah and architect for the attack killing 12 Druze children. He had a $5 million bounty on his head for playing a central role in a strike killing 241 US Marines.
If you’re the Druze reporter who wanted Lebanon to burn, you may not be satisfied yet, but keep reading and you may be content. [6][7]
Wednesday 7.31
Hamas' late political leader, Ismail Haniyeh
Ismail Haniyeh and his guard were fast asleep when they mysteriously exploded! Was it a drone? a rocket? Neither! It was a bomb that has been patiently waiting two months for its big night.
Mr. Haniyeh was in a secure guest house in Tehran to attend the incoming President of Iran’s inauguration.
Following the explosion, a witness said that the strike must have been so precise that a missile probably went through the window and directly hit him.
The next day, we learned the mastery of this assassination. A bomb was placed in the secure residence two months earlier. It only exploded Haniyeh’s room, and blew off the exterior wall.
Israel didn’t claim responsibility for the strike, and America said they were priorly uninformed. So the killer of Haniyeh remains a mystery… [8][9][10][11]
Thursday 8.1
Two weeks ago, the Hamas second in command, Mohamad Deif, was struck by an Israeli missile. The suspense is no more because Israel confirmed his death on Thursday. [12]
Friday 8.2
Biden had a “very direct” conversation with Netanyahu on Friday avowing the US’ security support of Israel while chastising the escalation.
Biden told Bibi that he mustn’t escalate again or the US may not come to their rescue.
He also raised his voice imploring Netanyahu to accept a hostage deal that he wants signed in the next two weeks. [13]
Saturday 8.3
The Aircraft Carrier Theodore Roosevelt that is en route to Israel
The US is reinforcing its defensive capacity around Israel in preparation of Iran’s expected attack.
There are already 80 land based combat aircrafts and a dozen warships. The Theodore Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier is on its way housing about 40 F-35 Attack Planes. The U.S.S. Wasp Amphibious Attack Ship is in the Eastern Mediterranean with 30 airplanes and 4,500 marines.
Some pundits expect these assets to be brought into action as early as Monday. Others expect Iran and its proxies to attack on the Jewish fast day, Tisha Be’av, the following Tuesday. [14][15]
Question: Are Israeli Arabs allowed to hold positions in the Knesset?
Answer: Of Course! There have been 100 Arab members of Knesset so far. Ten currently serve. Israeli Arab politician, Mansour Abbas, once said of people’s claims that Israel is an apartheid state, “I prefer to describe the reality in objective ways. If there is discrimination in a certain field, then we will say that there is discrimination in that specific field.” [16][17]
