Prime Minister Netanyahu finally succeeded in his life goal to decapacitate Iran’s nuclear weapons program. I worry he may relate to Inigo Montoya from one of my favorite movies, The Princess Bride, who mused, “I have been in the revenge business for so long now that it's over, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life.”

Sunday 7.6

The Israeli security situation and economy have been riding the same rollercoaster. As the country becomes safer, investment is increasing. Nvidia announced it is searching for an Israeli plot of land to build a multibillion-dollar mega campus. Nvidia’s workforce in the country is currently 5,000 and is expected to exceed Intel’s 9,000 to become the largest private employer. [1]

Monday 7.7

President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu met in the White House. Amid all the news about Netanyahu’s gifts to Trump of a mezzuzah made from and in the shape of a B-2 Bomber and a nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize, it was easy to miss the massive development that Netanyahu expressed willingness to make peace with the current Syrian government. Tuesday 7.8

The Israeli public has been increasingly upset about the lack of an endgame for the war in Gaza. Israel’s Defense Minister allayed their concern, announcing his plan to build a humanitarian city over Rafah. Once the displaced Gazans make their way to the city, they will be provided the option to emigrate to other countries. [3]

Wednesday 7.9

An assembly representing the nation’s largest teachers’ union, with over 14,000 communities, has voted to ban content from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The vote refers the motion to a higher council that makes the decision. The ADL offers educational materials on the Holocaust. [4]

Thursday 7.10

Israel will be increasing aid to Gaza following calls from the EU. The mechanism that will be used is unclear. I’m crossing my fingers that it will be through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or Hamas will be getting a big payday. [5]

Friday 7.11

Please don’t kill the messenger when I say that, on his way back to Israel, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that a hostage deal would be finalized in a few days. Yes, I said we were almost there last week. [6]

Saturday 7.12

Instagram Post of Mushroom Clouds over Israel

A top Iranian strategic advisor posted a picture on Instagram of nuclear explosions over a map of Israel. In the post, he begs the International Atomic Energy Agency to allow Iran to restart its nuclear program. [7]
